We recently relocated this 8.5m x 2.5m x 4.2m Tiny Home (approx. 4.5 tonnes) from Halls Gap to Little River using our Mack Titan Heavy Recovery Tow Truck.
Some people ask why such a large truck is used when the load appears relatively light. The reason is legality and safety.
Our Mack Titan is classified as a T1 / T2 Heavy Recovery Tow Truck, which allows it to legally tow loads up to around 12.5 tonnes even if the trailer has no functional braking system. Many tiny homes are unregistered, newly built, or not yet fully road compliant, meaning they cannot legally be towed by normal vehicles such as 4WDs, vans or light trucks on public roads.
Heavy recovery tow trucks are specifically designed to transport unregistered, unroadworthy or disabled equipment safely, which makes them ideal for relocating tiny homes and portable buildings.
Red Tow also carries $500,000 Hook Liability Insurance, covering the load while it is being towed.
