Red Tow was called to relocate a 30-year-old non-running truck and trailer combination that had been sitting idle for years. What appeared at first glance to be a simple relocation quickly became a technically demanding heavy recovery operation.
Due to the vehicle’s age and prolonged inactivity, multiple mechanical components were completely seized. Before any movement could take place, our team was required to remove the driveshaft and cage the brakes to allow the semi to roll safely. Recoveries of this nature require experience, mechanical knowledge and the correct heavy-duty towing configuration.
Controlled Heavy Recovery Process
Using the Red Tow Titan heavy tow truck, the combination was carefully prepared, lifted and stabilised for relocation. Mechanical preparation is often the most critical stage in non-running truck recoveries, particularly when dealing with long-idle equipment.
Once mobile, the job presented another challenge at the delivery location. With extremely limited space available, our operator was required to perform a tight reversing 180-degree manoeuvre with the full semi combination to correctly position it at its new home.
